Campfire Dessert Ideas

Some of my favorite memories of Troop campouts involve roasting marshmallows in front of a campfire. There's nothing like getting a marshmallow cooked slightly brown into your mouth on a cold night.

I know that I often have a hard time thinking outside the box when it comes to making dessert for campouts so I have a bunch of recipes on hand just in case. I hope you like them as much as I do.

Smore Cones- This isn't really a new recipe but it does give a fun take on an old classic I like. For this, grab an ice cream cone, fill it with marshmallows and ice cream toppings, put some tin foil around it, and throw it in the fire for a minute or two. You get the best of both the smore world as well as ice cream. And you don't even have to bring ice.

Banana Boats- Grab a banana, throw it on some tin foil, slice it open, and put things like marshmallows and chocolate chips inside. Put it in the fire for a minute or 3 and you've got a great dessert.

Orange Brownies- Cut a hole in the top of an orange, remove and eat the orange, and then pour brownie mix into the empty orange peel. Put the whole thing into the fire with some tin foil. The citrus really makes the brownies pop.

Campfire Jelly Donuts- Grab some biscuit dough and put jelly on one side. Put some more dough on that side, like you are making a jelly sandwich. Cook it for a minute and throw some powdered sugar on it. Great stuff.

Hope that helps with your fall adventuring. We look forward to seeing you next summer!
